Quick answer: clean the surface with rubbing alcohol, peel off the backing, place the decal, rub it down firmly with a squeegee or card, then slowly peel away the top film. Let it set for 24 hours before washing, and hand wash to keep it looking new.
What do you need?
- A UV DTF decal or pre-sized cup wrap
- Rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth
- A squeegee, or a plastic card wrapped in a soft cloth
How do you apply UV DTF to a flat surface?
- Clean. Wipe the surface with rubbing alcohol and let it dry fully. Oils and dust are the number one reason decals lift.
- Peel. Remove the backing paper and keep the decal on its clear top film.
- Place. Line it up and lay it down from one edge.
- Rub. Press firmly over every part of the design, working from the center out.
- Reveal. Slowly peel the top film back at a low angle. If part of the design lifts, lay the film back down and rub again.
How do you apply a wrap to a curved or tapered cup?
On glass cans and 40 oz tumblers, anchor the center of the wrap first, then work outward toward each side in small sections. Smoothing from the middle pushes air out and keeps the wrap straight. On tapered cups, wrap along the natural curve instead of forcing a straight line.
How do you care for UV DTF?
- Wait 24 hours before washing.
- Hand wash gently; avoid dishwashers, soaking and microwaves.
- Keep decals below the rim where lips touch the cup.
