Heat Press Instructions

Follow these steps to apply DTF transfers from DTF Sirius with a heat press. Results can vary with your press and garment, so press a test piece first when you work with a new material.

Recommended settings

  • Temperature: 315°F to 325°F. This range works for both cotton and polyester fabrics.
  • Pressure: Medium-firm.
  • Press time: 6 to 12 seconds.
  • Peel: Hot peel. Peel the film immediately after pressing.

Use a heat press for DTF transfers. We do not recommend household irons or handheld craft presses, because they cannot apply even heat and pressure.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Heat your press. Set the temperature between 315°F and 325°F.
  2. Position the transfer. Lay your garment flat on the heat press and place the DTF transfer where you want the design.
  3. Set the pressure. Adjust your press to medium-firm pressure.
  4. Press. Close the press for 6 to 12 seconds.
  5. Peel while hot. Open the press and immediately peel the film away from the transfer to reveal your design.

Applying UV DTF transfers

UV DTF transfers are peel-and-stick, so they do not need a heat press. They are made for clean, dry, smooth hard surfaces such as glass, metal, ceramic, hard plastic and sealed wood, and they are not intended for fabric.

  1. Prepare the surface. Make sure it is clean, dry and smooth.
  2. Peel off the backing.
  3. Place the design. Position it on the surface where you want it.
  4. Rub firmly. Rub over the whole design with a squeegee or card.
  5. Remove the top film. Slowly peel away the top film to reveal your design.

Let the transfer set for 24 hours before washing the item. Hand washing is recommended; avoid dishwashers and soaking.
