DTF Transfers for Tumblers, Cups and Mugs
For hard cups, tumblers, mugs and glass, use UV DTF: a peel-and-stick decal with no heat press, priced at about 12 cents per square inch, with a 16 oz glass-can wrap (9.33×4.5 in) at about $5.04, a 40 oz handled-tumbler body panel (9.3×5 in) at about $5.58 and a 20 oz straight skinny tumbler wrap (9.3×8.2 in) at about $9.15. Koozies and anything made of fabric still use regular DTF, pressed at 315°F, so a koozie transfer and a tumbler wrap are two different products even though both start with the word DTF. There is no minimum order on either product, and orders placed by 2 PM ET Monday through Friday print and ship the same day from our shop in upstate New York.
Which Transfer for Which Item
The short version: if it is hard and non-porous (steel, glass, ceramic, acrylic), use UV DTF. If it is fabric or foam (a koozie, a tote, a tee), use regular DTF with a heat press. The table below is the quick reference for cups, tumblers, mugs and glass, side by side with the koozie and fabric options.

Why Regular DTF Does Not Work on Hard Cups
Regular DTF transfer film is built for fabric: it is pressed at 315–325°F so the adhesive melts into cotton or polyester fibers and locks in with the fabric itself. A stainless tumbler, a glass, or a ceramic mug does not take heat the same way and has no fiber for the film to bond into, so a regular DTF transfer will not hold on glass or metal. That is the whole reason UV DTF exists as a separate product: it is a cold, peel-and-stick film made to grip a smooth, hard surface instead of fabric.
What UV DTF Is and How It Is Applied
UV DTF transfers for cups come as a printed decal with a clear top film and a white paper backing. Applying one takes a few minutes with no equipment:
- Wipe the cup, tumbler or glass clean and dry with rubbing alcohol.
- Peel off the white paper backing.
- Place the decal and press from the center outward.
- Rub it down firmly with a squeegee or a card.
- Peel away the clear top film slowly at a low angle.
- Let it set for 24 hours before the first wash.
This is the same process whether you are ordering UV DTF decals for tumblers one at a time or wrapping a full production run for a drinkware line.
Sizing a Cup Wrap or Tumbler Wrap
A cup wrap or tumbler wrap is simply a UV DTF panel cut to the curve and height of a specific container, so it wraps edge to edge instead of sitting as a small logo. Because stainless tumblers, glass cans and skinny cups all have different diameters and heights, the wrap dimensions are not one size fits all. Our full cup wrap size chart lists the panel size for each common container so you can order the exact wrap your cup needs instead of guessing.
Mugs
For an 11–15 oz ceramic mug, a 3×3 in UV DTF panel on the front and a matching panel on the back run about $1.08 each. These mug decals are applied the same way as any other UV DTF decal: clean the ceramic, peel, place, squeegee and peel the top film. Mugs are hand wash only once the decal is set; do not put a UV DTF mug in the dishwasher.
Glass Cans
A 16 oz glass can takes a single wrap panel sized at 9.33×4.5 in, about $5.04, covering the can from near the base to just under the rim. Of all the glass items we print decals for, glass cans are one of the more forgiving surfaces for UV DTF since the material is naturally smooth, so the main prep step is just a thorough alcohol wipe to remove any oils before applying.
40 oz Handled Tumblers
A 40 oz handled tumbler is wider at the body than a straight skinny cup, so rather than a single wraparound piece, most orders use a 9.3×5 in body panel, about $5.58, placed on the flat front face below the handle. This keeps the decal off the curve near the handle and the lid, where a full wrap would need to stretch or seam.
Koozies With DTF
A neoprene koozie is fabric, not a hard cup, so it takes regular DTF, not UV DTF. Press at 315°F for 6–8 seconds with light pressure, and test a spare koozie first since neoprene can be sensitive to heat. A 3×3 in koozie design runs about $0.36. This is the same DTF film and press settings used for tees and totes, just with a lighter touch.
Ordering Routes
There are three ways to get a UV DTF cup wrap or logo decal. Browse pre-cut wraps sized for common tumblers and mugs in the UV DTF stickers collection, order a custom size with UV DTF Stickers and Transfers by Size, or batch several wraps and logos onto one sheet with the UV DTF Gang Sheet Builder. For koozies, totes and tees, order fabric-ready DTF through DTF Transfers by Size. If you are building a drinkware line with matching logo stickers for jars or packaging, see UV DTF logo stickers for small business.
Care
UV DTF cup wraps and mug decals are hand wash only, not dishwasher safe, and should set for 24 hours before the first wash. DTF-printed koozies and fabric items follow the standard DTF care: wait 24 hours, wash inside out in cold water, and skip the dryer's high heat.
DTF and UV DTF for Cups FAQ
Can you use DTF transfers on cups?
Not regular DTF; a hard cup needs UV DTF instead, a peel-and-stick decal applied without a heat press at about 12 cents per square inch.
Can you use DTF on tumblers?
Regular DTF is for fabric and will not bond to a stainless tumbler. Use UV DTF, sized to the tumbler, such as a 9.3×8.2 in wrap for a 20 oz skinny cup at about $9.15.
Can you put DTF on a mug?
Not regular DTF film. Ceramic mugs use UV DTF panels instead, typically 3×3 in on the front and back at about $1.08 each.
Do you need a heat press for cup wraps?
No. UV DTF cup wraps are peel-and-stick, applied by hand with a squeegee or card and no heat.
Are UV DTF cup wraps dishwasher safe?
No. They are hand wash only. They are water- and scratch-resistant for daily use, but skip the dishwasher.
What size wrap fits a 40 oz tumbler?
A 40 oz handled tumbler typically uses a 9.3×5 in body panel, about $5.58, rather than a full wraparound piece.
What size wrap fits a 16 oz glass can or 20 oz tumbler?
A 16 oz glass can uses a 9.33×4.5 in wrap at about $5.04, and a 20 oz straight skinny tumbler uses a 9.3×8.2 in wrap at about $9.15.
Can I use DTF on koozies?
Yes. Neoprene koozies use regular DTF pressed at 315°F for 6–8 seconds with light pressure; a 3×3 in design runs about $0.36.
